Your gifts, both large and small, will help us to achieve our mission of providing safe and educational places for the public to enjoy the outdoors.
The Platte PEER Group is celebrating 20 years this year, and with that comes a great time to reflect on our accomplishments and plan for the future.
Bader Memorial Park - Nestled between the Platte and Wood Rivers, Bader Park features 36 RV camping sites, 15 tent camping sites, hiking trails, 5 fishing lakes, and a sandy beach for swimming.
Bader Park has improved leaps and bounds in 20 years, and now is a feature loved by many communities as a safe place to explore the outdoors. We have seen an increase in park visitors nearly every year, with estimates this year close to 17,000 visitors. This continued increase has put a strain on our staff and facilities. Your donations allow us to continue providing an enjoyable and relaxing environment for the public to disconnect from the world.
Your contributions will help:
- Improve the hiking trail experience with signage and maps
- Update restrooms and shower facilities
- Purchase of maintenance equipment such as chainsaws, power tools, and safety equipment
Dark Island Trail - This public 8-mile-long trail extends from Central City to one mile south of Marquette and is open to hiking, biking, running, birding, cross country skiing, etc.
The Dark Island Trail has come a long way in 20 years. Starting as an abandoned railroad, it is now a beloved trail for many communities to enjoy thanks to committed volunteers and donors like you. Our hope is that with enough support, we can continue the expansion of the trail, as well as maintaining the existing portions.
Your donations will help:
- Continue to resurface the trail as grant funding and donations allow
- Enhance the trail south of Marquette
- Continue Taco Rides, and support hiking, biking and running events
